Crystal clear Archival Polyester, rounded corner units have the 3M® #415 tape in place, simply choose the proper size, remove the glassine protective strip, place the document inside the two pieces of Archival Polyester and seal.

Tip: Encapsulation Units:  Encapsulation can provide excellent protection for archival research materials from damage during handling and inspection.

The new process involves sandwiching the item between two sheets of polyester film which is then sealed around all edges with an archival tape or heat-sealed. This method is not recommended for materials with loose, flaking particles due to the static nature of the polyester. It is also not recommended for highly acidic papers, as it may accelerate their deterioration. In some situations, the acid deterioration can be mitigated by using buffered paper behind the document in the encapsulation, or by de-acidifying the document prior to encapsulation. Polyester L-sleeves can provide a reversible alternative to sealed encapsulation.
