Cushion Rare or Fragile Books
Our Foam Book Support System is based on the design by noted Oxford conservator, Christopher Clarkson.
The foam material supports the entire exterior surface of a book, is soft enough to conform to heavy embossing and embellishments, and provides enough friction to keep the book in place.
Foam pieces can be grouped in different configurations to hold most books at a gentle angle for reading or display.
Use as- is, or cover with a cloth for a finished look. Choose between two different foam materials, depending on use:
Stable, closed-cell polyethylene supports are archival quality and can be used for long-term display.
Urethane supports are not archival quality and should be used for short-term support of books in the reading room or during brief examinations.
All sets consist of seven foam pieces: three wedges, three rectangular blocks, and one spine support. Also included are two fabric covered snake weights for gently holding pages open.
Additional Snake Weights are available separately.
Due to fuel surcharges, additional shipping charges may apply.
